hi folks. I got myself a Dell Precision 420. I wonder if itīs possible to overclock with this motherboard. Of course there are no bios options to do the job.
I found the clockgenerator itīs a cypress CY 2210 PVC-2.
Both softfsb and cpufsb donīt know the clockgen-chip.
As I have to get myself a new cpu for this one. I wonder If I should go for a 1ghz PIII (and donīt o/c) or go for 2x 750mhz(100fsb). Itīs a double board and 2 o/c 750 to maybe 950mhz would be really nice.

Does someone know if there is a plugin for this clockgen. Also if I canīt raise the voltage o/c wonīt be so succesfull. If I go for a slotket (slot 1 mobo btw.) is it possible to o/c a PIII coppermine with the slotket and raise the voltage?

wprcedit works with the mobo. Can I overclock with this little proggy?

thx for your help......

There are a couple of things you can do.
1. If the 750 is a flip chip then you can get a slocket that tricks the motherboard into thinking it's a 133mhz fsb chip. Just by choosing the 133mhz option on the slocket

2.If you have the money to buy a p3 1gig, trash the dell motherboard and buy a new and friendlier board. And stay with the 750 for a while.

To answer your questions about the slocket yes, if you buy the right one you can adjust the voltage on the slocket.

Another thing to take into mind is that a p3 750 does not have a good overclocking record. Check out the cpu data base. I recomend the p3 700, from experience it is very easy to 933 out of it.

thx for the tip.... will check cpu prices after intel price cut... checked data base... good tip with the 700.
