View Full Version : too hot?
I have an 633@902 celeron stable at 1.85 v. The temp goes as high as 74C when i run a torture test on it (fall down to 27C on idle), but it does not crash, is that too hot. i only have the retail heatsink, fan on it, but the heatsink doesn't become hot (only warm)

Hi, and welcome to the forums. 74C is way too hot. The intel stock cooler is not very good. I would recommend getting a new heatsink and fan and some thermal paste. The thermal pad on the Intel stock cooler is terrible. The heatsink not getting hot is a sign of poor thermal contact. I am surprised that it is stable at that high of a temperature.
74c ?!?!?! I'm surprised it's alive, myself!
That's way, way too hot! You need to get a better heatsink and fan on that, like NOW!

Ok i have resolved my temperature problem. my clip on the heatsink was inversed so the heatsink was not perfectly parallel to the surface of the processor. it now runs at 52C on a torture test with the regular fan and the heatsink become hotter than before. i tried 950 at 1.85 and 1.95 (the max of my mobo (asus cuv4x) but it does not start windows, i'll try with a bigger heatsink and fan and give you results. Thanx

MUCH better, but still a bit on the warm side.... I'd still look into getting a better hsf, for sure.
