List:

Rig:
-Soyo SY-6BA+IV
-PIII 850 CuMine
-128M Avant PC100
-Maxtor 40Gig HDD
-3D Proph2 MX

What software or informaiton do I use to determine the Information required for a CPU post on this site. I checked the processor info under SiSoft Sandra and came up w/ the following:

-Estimated Performance - (RR1022)
-Generation - 6th (6x86)
-Model - P6C Coppermine PIII E(B) 500
(Soyo board sees this as a 500? Manual says they support up to PIII 600 but will recognize higher...Processor IS an 850CuMine)
-Revision/Stepping - 8/3
-Stepping - cBO

The Soyo board rocks and I've been running the 850 @ 952 (112x8.5) at about 44c/100f. Haven't wanted to push any further yet. How else can I derive the additional info I need? ie: FPO/Batch, S Code, Plant, Week???? This is an OEM processor out of an HP Pavilion 8756C. Help? I want to know what I can expect out of this puppy! Thanks for excusing any obvious ignorance on my part!!

If your mainboard is mis-identifying the CPU, a Bios update should fix this.

Yes, as klosters64a said, a BIOS upgrade will solve the misidentification. Your board is bundled with 1 GHz PIII's over at Multiwave, so your 850 is no problem. Give it some more voltage, and try for 124 MHz (1.054 GHz). Of course, try some intermediary steps first.

I ran the bin update (6ba42ba5.bin - Dated 11/27/00) w/ AWD Flash but when I go to default settings, the board is still seeing PIII 500E(B). Soyo manual and site says they 6BA=IV supports up to PIII 600.

I'm fairly sure I'm not a complete idiot but could I be running awd.flash wrong...It appears to be going through all the steps...Have to look for some more info on where the BIOS version is listed....Work always seems to get in the way... At any rate...thanks for your help.

Had my 850 running @ 952 but need additional cooling
Burning in my Celery 433 today...and for a while to see if I can get above my current 540 setting.
