Another Dual Channel, quick question

duuude i bought myself a dell and it comes stock with a 128 400 ram in slot 1. i ordered myself 2 256 and i plan on putting it in slots 1 and 3 (thus enabling dual channel). what should i do with my 128? if i put it in slot 2 will it disable dual channel? will it do any harm (ie slow the ram down?)

You can have all slots filled and still be in DC mode. All DC mode is, two different memory controllers, so one or two dimms will be used for one controller and the other dimms will be used for the second memory controller.

Now though, since you would be running 256MB on one controller and 384MB on the second controller, the second controller will still only run 256MB in DC.

so basically i'll be running 256x2 in dual channel and the 128 would be "extra" non dc ram?......
