The top is anodized aluminum, I believe. The nice thing about anodized aluminum is that it doesn't cause the corrosion problems bare aluminum would. I have an aluminum topped DTek Spiral, and because it's anodized, there are no problems with corrosion after over a year of use.
The Maze4 shouldn't cover up the RAM unless you're using some really bizzare graphics card. Anodized really shouldn't pose a problem, but hey, whatever you want.
