I finnaly found my manual and learned how to overlock or so i thought. I have an intel pentium-s proccessor at 166mhz. I was only going for a little over 233mhz i changed around some jumpers and set all them to the highest multipliers and cpu speeds then turned on the computer and it only partly camme on. The screen was black. So i reset them and tried one at a time and it said 210mhz and that was ok so let let windows boot up only it stopped mid-way and tried to enter safe mode. I just pressed enter normallyand it brought up this error message."While initializing devise NTKERN windows protection erreo please restart computer". I thought the fact that it woudnt go higher than 210mhz is because of power so i went to set the cpu power higher and noticed it was at its max already 3.5v do i need to do something in bios? Please tell me how to make it go higher and to fix this little problem. One last thing do you guys think i could het my cpu to overlock to at least 300mhz. Please answer all my questions if you can I NEED HELP!!!!

try putting in a startup disk and running scandisk then rebooting. i suspect ~230 is the most you will get from that cpu. good job so far! trial and error...

Well i suggest you read as many of the post as you can and learn quite abit more about overclocking youve kinda gone about the whole procces in the wrong way, the whole idea is to take small steps and bring your speeds up slowly from original specs and constantly checking your temps without a good heat sink fan your not going to get to far anyway. start slowly and see how high you go before you get into problems and then back off to were your PC was stable again, even if you do this make sure your PC is not getting to hot you may make changes and it will be fine for a while bet when you put it under a full load there is a good chance that it will get to hot and take a dump on you. I figure you dont want to put any money into your PC since it is so old but there are a few tricks to keep it cooller do some reading her at this site and pick up on some knowledge and you should do just fine one trick is to keep your case cover off I prefere to put a duct going from my heat sink fan too the case so that it will draw in cool air to keep my procceser a little cooller, remember heat is the enemy.

good luck

the highest you can do depends on what fan'heatsink your using, i got 254 stable with intel heatsink/fan
