Use powerstrip like I did with my Nvidia cards? I have a 9800Pro.

Also are these good stock scores for this card?

3dmark03 4963
3dmark01 11435

Hell the ti4600 on my MP rig got over 10k overclocked.

those scores suck...they aren't much worse than mine and I'm running a 9200...Make sure you run drivercleaner to get rid of your nVidia drivers...make them all go away! Then get the new catalyst drivers. After that, use W1zzards ATItool. It's the best freaking overclocking tool for ATI cards ever. Just look around on this board and you'll find a link almost instantly.

I'd save rage3dtweak, rivetruner or of course atitool ;)

Also make sure you have the latest chipset drivers for that Tyan board. You should be hitting at least 6000 in 3dmark2003 and 18,000-19,000 in 3dmark2001.

There's a big difference between the 9600XT and the 9800Pro. 256 Bit memory is one, 8 texture pipeline is another. The difference is pretty big. The 9800Pro is like 1.5 times faster than the 9600XT. So the score should reflect that. I'm talking stock here.

And yeh those scores are pretty bad. You might want to look in to Omega drivers because the tweaks in the drivers are for better quality. Check it out at OmegaCorner (http://www.omegacorner.com)

Ok. Tried wizzard's ATItool and all that does is reboot my system when I apply a new clock speed to the card.

I'm using CAT 3.8. If I use CAT 4.1 all I get is a continuous reboots. Only way to solve that is a reformat.

I've been having some pretty major issues with this configuration since installing the Radeon. 1st I get an exception error upon boot. Happens before the OS starts to load so I have no idea where that problem lies. See my post in the 911 forum for details. In general I have to reset the CMOS on every reboot.

My second issue is the fact that I lost over 400 CPU points in 3dmark03 just by switching video cards. My old GeForce FX5600 outscored the 9800 in the CPU benchmarks. GO figure. To top it all off I have crappy framerates compared to my Ti4600 in real games. Currently I am very much dissatisfied with ATI. Here I thought I was going to get a topnotch card and have fun. Its been nothing but a headache since install.

Try the 3.10 version of Catalyst. Either that or I use 3.7 if I'm not playing new games.

It's not ATIs fault you are having poor performance. There's is obviously something else wrong with your computer; be it drivers or a hardware conflict of some sort.

I'm sorry. Its just I have never had video card problems like this. In fact I've never had any major problems with any of my systems I've built until now. I'm kinda erked. Tyan states the card is compatible with my board so I'm lost now.
