View Full Version : High temp?

Accidently I downloaded WCPUID, CpuIdle, Motherboard monitor and SoftFSB(handy onde!), and I managed to push it up to 787 Mhz.
Temperature on my BH6 shows 57 degrees Celcius. Is this a lot? How close to the CPU core is the sensor?
I read on an Intel Spec sheet that max temp is 85 degrees Celcius.
Try going into your BIOS and see the CPU temperature there, because this program that you just downloaded might not be accurate. I had a similar problem, I have ABIT VH6, and the ViaHM tells me my CPU temp is 31, but Sandra tells me that its 37.
You're running the chip only 87MHz more, so the temperature shouldn't be very high.
If you want to overclock it more, buy a new cooler, because the Orb is not very good cooler for overclocking.

Is it not.....? What would you recommend that I use instead?
It might not be accurate, and I personally use VIAhm because I have ABIT motherboard... If you have ABIT too, check your CD that came with the motherboard, its supposed to have VIAhm in it. It tells you your CPU temp, board temp, and fan speed, and voltage, and other stuff. If you have some other motherboard, try going to their web-site, they might have some program there.
That's pretty high for that small of an overclock. Sounds like the software's at fault. Something that hot should radiate a lot of heat, put your hand near the cpu fan -- it should feel pretty warm at that temp.

The sensor should touch the processor but also let the processor seat fully into the socket use a small dab of thermal compound on the sensor where it touches the processor. 57C is way to high I hope your software is wrong. good luck.
check out the cooling section if you get a chance i think they recommend Global and a few others most top of the line HSF's will give great results with a good thermal compound

The censor is actually inside the CPU, so you can't move it around! It should show the correct temp, give or take a few degrees.
57 is VERY hot for your considerably low overclock. It sounds like you have forgotten to apply a thin layer of thermal grease? Or perhaps the heat sink isn't seated correctly on the CPU, and therefor isn't able to remove the heat from it.
Something is wrong thats for sure...
Yes there is a thermal diode in the cpu bur I don't think that
BH6 is capable of reading it so they put a thermal cable instead. I think your readink might be correct

Yes, I also think the reading is correct. Just be sure not to put the censor in between the cpu and the heatsink. I have a friend who tried that once... he won't ever do that again! :)

Actually there might be something wrong with Motherboard monitor. I´m only seeing 37 degrees Celcius in the BIOS setup.
those temps seem real high you might take of the hsf, clean off the paste, and reapply everything. what voltage are you running?
all the money in your system you should spring for an alpha, like pal6035 or pep66.
