Do some reaing here at this forum and check out the cpu data base and see what other guys and galls have done with your chip. Read the beginers guide and get a idea what your doing and your machine will thank you later :) basicly to start you raise your Front side bus in bios until it gets unstable and when it does you can raise your core voltage to your processor to keep it stable but when you raise your Core Voltage you will start getting your processor too hot so when you get to this point you will need a better heatsink fan. I'm not sure about dell but allot of computers such as compaq and other name brand's dont use the best motherboard for overclocking and allot of the time they cannot be overclocked at all [there bios wont let them] ther are a few programs that will let you adjust your FSB without going through bios but I have no idea if it will work on your PC you can go to www.tweakfiles.com and check that site out they have the programs but if you cannot change your CV I think i'd leave my PC alone and enjoy what ya got. ther are tricks to raise CV but you'll have to do a little research here at this site to check that out.

Guy,
Most brand manufacturer companies are not overlclockable. I do know that the Dell computers won't let you overclock. It will not allow you to change around your vcore, fsb, etc.. the bios is ***** to be honest.
however, you can give a try on one of the possible solutions.. go to www.tweakfiles.com and look for SoftFSB software to see if it will work on your box. The chances are it will not work. but you can always try.
Hey guys, I can't do it from the bios and I have been readin and haven't found and answer, but Dell told me there is a way but didn't tell me how

I've tried SoftFSB on my OEM machine with no luck, the right ASUS board isn't listed :(

All you need for softfsb to work is to know the make/model of your clock generator, (usualy a chip close to the quartz crystal)...I'll post a pic so you can see what the crystal looks like...and if your generator is in the list, then highlight it, and away you go...the crystal is the little oblong silver "cap" to the left of the heatsink....I added the heatsink for stability
Guys I am hoping for a simple guide to over clock a dell P3. Please tell me if you can help, I have tried the ways listed, but still it don't work. Thanx

Guy, change the mobo and new PSU. Try ASUS or Abit mobo and 250watt or higher PSU
Can't I just do it without switching or buying anything. to make it easier to talk. My AIM screen name is: EnemyToTheWorld
