This GPU cooler is pretty beefy. (http://www.modsynergy.com/Review%20113.htm) And, as it stands right now, its the best retail answer to GPU cooling. Do you guys think it can handle a 12v 80w TEC on top of my 9800 XT?

If not, do you think it will handle a 10k VR volt mod?

I am done with water and phase change but i might volt mod my card "OR" TEC air cool it.

it will handle a volt mod but no way will it handle the TEC.

your not just cooling the tec your also cooling the GPU. so your probably trying to get rid of 120-130 watts of heat. Do not even try.

This is a good cooler though. I've used one. Isnt as good as a modded 1U dynatron made to fit. But an easy quiet bolt on.

I think in order to use a TEC on air for that, you would need a nice big alpha, or swiftech Pin style sink, with a tornado on it.

Thanks for the replies fellas. So....Tedinde a 1U Dynatron will do a better job of cooling my gpu?

Is this the one? (http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1095)

I have installed OCZ BGA style ramsinks on my mem. I dont' know if this cooler will clear them?

im thinking about going TEC on my 9800XT. ive got a Vapochill PE on my 3.0c @ 3.9ghz. in a seperate case, i have the Asetek waterchill Hydor L30 along with the Black Ice Pro II radiator cooling the chipset and 9800XT. i have a Antec 550W TC PSU, and was wondering if this system would be enough to install a MCW50-T on my 9800XT.

any suggestions are appreciated...

Yes it will. I had the same setup as you up untill a couple months ago.

Antec 550w
Vapo Pe
3.0 @ 3.9
9800 XT @ 500/400 with a MCW50-T (idle 20c load 33c)

All of it was powered by my Antec 550w

The MCW50-T has a 80 TEC and can be powered by the PSU because that particular TEC is a 12v one.

SWEET! i was just worried about the power consumption of the Vapo. my rails dropped when i installed it, and forced me to tweak the lines. thanks for the information bro...i really appreciate it.

Not bad, but it was still a bigger sink than a 1U setup.

Nice setup though.

Im sure it could be done with a 1U, though it wouldnt be 1U after the coldplate and pelt are attached. You might not see freezing temperatures, but pretty close.
