Small rudder movements are key
yup thats right! but i cant seem to land the fast helis even when i go down fairly slow, i go BOOM! lol i gotta slow down more :P anyways ever get caught in a spiral in the air where ya jus cant seem to get out of but your not really gettin any lower or higher jus like spinning :P i always gotta bail

when u spin like that i find it easier to just let off the throttle and let the spin stop itself, of course you have to be ready to end up flying upside dpown towards the ground buuuut....
And as for landing the small helis STAY LEVEL!!!! this is especially bad for me in the blackhawk... I will land it and then it will roll over and blow up b i can get far enough away.

hovering is a VERY good way to get an idea of the controls....try and capture some points with the heli. It'll give you a VERY good idea as to how sensitive the controls are....it helps a lot with learning how to fly.

When you're landing any of the choppers lean the chopper slightly backwards (a little less than you do forward to move forward) when your close to your landing point and tap the acceleration key. Depending on what chopper you're flying the timings are different but once you get this technique down its great. Also works well to stop and hover over a flag.
Right now i'm practicing running over infantry with the Littlebirds w/o ordenance. :D
i almost got landing done with the slow chopters (the 2 seeter with 1 weapon for the polite) the small heli with no weapons is WAY too fast for me, however i think i got most of the other helis ready to pilot.

I usually have my mouse sensetivity almost all the way up in my games, this gives me very responsive control of the heli, I can pretty much do anything I want.

I use a M$ force feedback joystick.
I got it years ago, it came with Motocross Madness 1 and is still in great shape.
One day I was asking myself the same question, how come I can't fly these damn helicopters as well as some other people? So I made my own DC server, no one could join because of my firewall which was good. I practiced flying various helicopters around and adapted to the controlls fairly quickly.
My advice is to make your own game and just practice with it, you wont have to worry about anyone shooting you down because there arnt any. Good Luck. :)

well learning any of the flying things in DC whether it is the Littlebird (AH-6), the Apache, or the Blackhawk (UH-60), even any of the opposition helis... try flying through the mountains.. and just try to fly in circles around a given target. but dont try to overcorrect.. you will lose it.

the big chopper is not any good at all to practice with because even if you are really high up to land it all you have to do is not touch the throttle and let it fall as long as you stay level you wont blow up with it...
