ok, i want to get a new vidcard, but don't want to spend too much(as little as possible) so i can have money left for a SMP setup...i play moh:AA, bf1942, and a little RTC:W...i plan on getting halo so i just need something that can handle those games at high settings wiht atleast 30-40 fps...do i need anything better than a ti4200? or is there anything less expensive that would do me?

To play halo at high settings, you are going to need something way faster than that. For like 4x AA and 8x AF you would prolly need like a 9700pro or 9800np or higher. That game slows down my 9800pro at times with those settings.
If you are building a gaming PC, then SMP isn't necessary.
You want the best gaming performance? Then better go with something better than TI4200. Your CPU also need to be upgraded, as it's not worthy for a higher video card.
You can get a Radeon 9800Pro for only $224 here (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-268&catalog=48&depa=1)
The current best video card 9800XT only outperform 9800Pro by 5% at stock speed and for $400+. So the one in the link is a cool deal. Everyone who has a lower card should go grab one.
If you are looking for a CPU upgrade, then get a Athlon 64 3000+ (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-425&depa=1) or 3200+ (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-413&depa=1). They outperform a 3.4GHZ P4 by over 10% at least(depend on overclocking) in gaming with the same video card.

i want smp because i do alot of cdburning and mp3 playing while i play moh:aa, and get slowed down sometimes...i want a better vid card to get good resolution+high settings+hihg fps on the games i currently play(moh, bf1942, rtcw) amd be able to play medium settings+medium res.+decent fps on halo...do you think that the 4200 can do it? i don't have much money to spend as the smp is higher on the priorities than the vid card as i play moh maxxed out and get good fps, and decent fps with medium settings on bf1942...i plan to get halo when prices drop and i know i can't play it with my current setup so i was thinking that a cheap card(the 4200 is a good cheap card i hear) would be halo playable...i can't go all out on the 9800 deal, but i can spare a few bucks to get the 4200....so should i? or just hold out untill christmas when i have a chance to get the 9800 or better card

ur best value is probably the ti4200!
it won't play the newest games at the absolute highest possible settings but seriously, the new games out lately look really great @ medium-high settings. at full blown absolute highest possible they look visually stunning, absolutely mind blowing- and its probably worth it to buy a good card if you think you will enjoy it. U could also go for a 5600 ultra or above. ATI probably has some deals also

i played halo on my albatron ti4200p turbo and did well on high settings. lowest i ever saw was 13 fps for a few secs. but it could bog down to the 20's during intense action. after gettting my 5900 the lowest i've seen is 29 and that was without any oc. you might wanna think about something with a little more life in it like the fx 5900 or 9700pro both great cards and can be had for less than $200

does anyone know of any good wwII or desert combat type games comming out in the next 4-7 months? if not then i think i wil grab the 4200...because it seems to be all i will need unless something that needs some power that i will play comes out
