I work for Compaq Direct and today we started getting them in. I was looking at a batch of Pentium 3s. They were 866s, Costa Rica, and the S code is SL4ZJ.

Forgot to mention... they are all FC-PGAs :)

Something else...hehe... we build 1000 to 1500 computers a day [Compaq Desktops, Workstations, Proliant Servers, etc]. LOTS of the Workstations and the Servers that do not have Xeons in them have multiple processors [Pentium 3s]. Well, they come to us usually in a barebones configuration...ie: 1 CPU, some memory already installed. The barebones chassis are supplied to us by Foxcon. We add more CPUs, memory, hard drives, etc. They all have cC0 stepping CPUs in em... and now we are getting a ton of cD0 CPUs. Bottom line: BIG MESS! cC0 and cD0 steppings do not work together in SMP setups...lol. Awhile back we had the same problem when the chassis had cB0 stepping CPUs in em and we had [at that time] cC0 CPUs we were SUPPOSED to be using to upgrade the ones that needed dual CPUs. This is gonna be fun! :D

Whats the diff??
well its a new stepping... a newer core..
it may overclock better as the newer cCo's did that the cBo's
intel plan to have a 1.13 mhz p3 again... this stepping may just do it

They are fcpga's correct? If so I may just have to buy a slotket and pick one up! :)

I think I've had this 800E long enough!

Thanks for letting us know that you spotted some. Please let us know once you've the spotted the PIII 1 GHZ in the FC-PGA2 format which has the integrated heat spreader(IHS). The Intel update document said that OEM's/vendors shoud be prepared to receive them around April 16th(I believe).

Yeah, but the cDo's are only available in 133MHz FSB. so they are never going to be great overclockers.

Slot type or socket only?

Will the cD0s work in my Abit BX133 board?

yes; but It will cost an arm and a leg for buyers. Why bother while... with only 40-$55 you can get a duron 600/800mhz and OC up to 1-1.1G... So much fun for a little hard cash... UUHHH.. I am in a wrong place... Bye ;-);-);-)

Dimmreaper:

The Intel processor S-spec page only lists cD0's starting at 866 mhz.

Where did you hear that there will be 850 mhz cD0's available?

I was reading an official intel product update notification that stated the 700, 750, and 850's will not come out in the cDO stepping....I went to intel's site, and did a search for "cDO" stepping, and found that document...
this link if it works will show that the 866 is the lowest cDO
