Well Ive had this done for some time, but better late than never I guess. Some of you may remember my PC-70 (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dfall/Comp/Watercooling/2.JPG) being watercooled. And this 3.0c running at 3.6gig. Well, I was over the "in your face" look of my led fans, cathode, and big window. So I sold it all, and got a new Lian Li PC-6070B (silent) and a Mach II for good measure.

Specs:
Mach II
Abit IC7 MAX3
3.0c
9800XT
SB Audigy 2 ZS
2x512 HyperX PC4000
36gig Raptor
PC Power&Cooling 510 Deluxe

My HD cage "mod" to improve air flow towards the video card, and out the back fan. Keeps it from swirling around by the sound card where it is of no use.

Thats at 267fsb at 5:4 ratio, at CAS3 4-4-8. At 260fsb at 1:1 and CAS3 4-4-8 it gets 6200 some in Sisoft. I think my ram is limiting me. I run it at 260FSB every day because I can keep it at 1:1 and actually get better frames, or very close to, despite the 100Mhz loss from 267FSB.

Going to tidy up the wires some more. Its a little harder when I have 3 comming from the Mach II thru the hole. I havent gotten around to it yet, but there is little I can do with them really.

All and all Im pretty happy with it. I like the case a lot, even though its much smaller than my last one. I like the solid front door, and the rubber molding on the door and such to keep it quiet. It really is a quiet PC, which is what I was shooting for.

Comments, suggestions and criticisms welcome.

Wow, nice setup!

To clean it up a bit more, could you mount your hard drive in the 3.25" floppy drive bay and remove the drive cage from the case? Just a suggestion.

You have an amazing set up so many very nice parts in that thing  . Something that made me laugh though was that lamp that you have sitting on your desk. Such a hightech looking work space and then that thing :D. Anyway I am very jealous of your gear.

Well, the power and sata from it are not in the way at all, and cant really be seen. Even still I probably wouldnt. Its a Raptor @10k rpm and Id like to have some air blowing across it. Its all those darn wires comming out from the base of the Mach II. That and the case's front USB connections. I could probably do better, but just havent gotten around to it.

Nice setup!

How was the install with the MACH II? Was it giving you problems or was it straight forward?

BTW, what's that black stuff on the bottom of you case?

Looks like sound or vibration dampening material to me....please correct me if I'm wrong fallguy.

Thats probably pax.mate or something similar. Very, very nice setup up Fallguy. Now all you need is to get some better cooling on your graphics.

skinart, yeah 34a is for real. PC Power&Cooling is a very good PSU company. They rate is at 510w, but if they rate it how all the others do, its a 650w. The copper plate is stock on all 9800XT's, except for custom cooling by some companies.

scanido, it is a sound dampening material. My case came with it on the top, and both sides. I put it on the bottom. The setup was very easy, the only problem I had was they sent me a AMD clip instead of a Intel clip. The AMD clip is 2mm longer, and I didnt get good contact with it. Chip-con said they had a few shipments with the wrong clip in them, and they promptly sent me the correct one the next day.

Warehouse, I was thinking of adding a fan to the side, but I like the smooth look all the way around. My 9800XT does 480/420 as it is, not bad for stock cooling, and just three case fans. When my fans are on low, my case temp is 34c, when on high, its 27c. Panaflo U1A fans @49cfm do the job pretty well when cranked up.

Two reasons keep me from doing it, it wouldnt be 100% smooth all over the case, and the 9800XT fan blows towards the door. So putting a fan blowing towards the card would be counterproductive, or so I would think. If you are familiar with how the fan and heatsink work on it, you probably know what I mean. I suppose I wouldnt know for sure without trying, but Im not at that point yet. Im pretty happy with 480/420.

Yah, its a bit of a problem. I have a 9700 Pro, and I believe the cooling works the same on the 9800XT. The only thing that I can think of, without hacking up that beautiful case, is adding a mini water loop, maybe hitting the Chipset as well. Nevertheless, you should be very proud of that beast. I want to get a promi when I get the cash together.:)

Nice set up you have there. My Mach 1 finally shipped and I am still using a 3 year old Inwin Q500A case Full tower. Its been so brutally modfied in the front that I would be ashamed to take a picture of it lol. Never meant for LAN parties, its just a beast that with water cooling that allows the xp2100 to overclock to 2.6ghz

Even so I am going to torture it some more once my prommy arrives. At least I can remove the raditor and water setup or leave it and put it on the 9500np that thinks its a 9800. Plan on leaving the 110v 120mm front fan though with a rotary speed control. Have to put a grill though, my son would get curious and loose a finger

I can see how empty your wallet looks in the picture above. I assume it is directly related to the sweet setup.

Looks good Fallguy. Was thinking about you the other day and wondering how the system set up was was going. great pics and l;ooks like it turned out A.O.K. Did you have any trouble setting up the prommy to boot with the delay?

P.S. I've still got the website bookmarked.

Looks nice, what kinda temps are you getting?

fallguy
02-14-04, 10:46 PM
No the Mach II didnt require anything extra to work with the delay. Just plugged it into my mobo, and the PC boots up when it hits -33c.

creepy, it says -22c or so-8ish, but Abits read high. I assume its around -30'ish under load, and -50 idle. But I guess I wont know since this board reads high, as do all Abits Ive used in the past few years.

Fallguy, those would be good evap temps, but there is a big difference between evap and cpu temps.

You're temps are likely a few degrees lower, but they aren't -50C. not at all.

fallguy
02-15-04, 01:32 PM
I know the difference. Im talking at idle, I think its close to -50c. Every review I read had it at about that.
