I got a Cel II 600,
MB QDI synactix 2ep
256Mb RAM
ATI Rage 128 PRO
win2k/win9x
(a larger cooler than delivered with the CPU)

The thing I wanna do is to overclock my CPU up to 900.
I changed the jumper to have a FSB of 100
But as you can guess, it doesn't work.

when my pc starts up, my screen stays black, nothing happens,
no biep.

Some months ago I tried it with a abit VH6 motherboard. I changed the FSB in the BIOS op to 7 then it worked.., but when I tried to put the FSB to 100 it did the same thing as it's doing now, NOTHING, no biep, no video initialisation...

No I bought the QDI MB (as noted in the begin)
and it still dont work...

Can someone please help me???
PS: My temperature never go higher than 40°C

If it makes you feel any better, I have the same problem... Right now I have the retail HSF, and the max FSB that mine loads up is 83. It does not work at 100 or more. I think my problem is the heat, because I haven't tried any other HSF yet. And same as you, my temperatures don't go even over 35'C

I have

ABIT VH6
Celeron 600 w/default HSF
192MB of Kingston PC100 SDRAM
V3 3000 AGP (running @ 176MHz) w/additional cooling
and a few system coolers (my system temp doesn't go over 28'C)

Keep trying to crawl your way up, like the prior post. it may be a heating issue, but I doubt it. Sounds like a chip that just won't hit anything higher...

You may even want to burn it in for a day at default speed and increased voltage, some people get good results.

You have tried increasing the voltage as well right?

yeah, if you guys haven't done so which it sounds like BURN IT IN. it works...

I'm a bit curious as to what vcore settings you two are using....few 600's will make 900 at default voltage. If you're running default, this is likely why.....

I tried to pull up voltage,
but it didn't change anything...

Can you please tell me what burningin is?
How can I do it? and what does it change?

Thanx

run at default fsb with high voltage for a while- what it does, no one knows, but it usually works. i had one 600 cele go to 100 fsb at default v and after some burning in it got to 110 fsb before i past the box on to the person i built it for (back down at 100fsb)

the chip in this box took extensive tweaking and burning in to inch my way up. hopefully this all helps...

You tried to up the voltage how much? ? ?

First off, your probably never going to see 900mhz with default voltage.

If your computer is not "posting" when you try 100fsb, then you probably dont have enough voltage to reach that speed.

Burn in: Simply run your chip at higher voltage then the defualt, use a program like Sisoft Sandra to loop a cpu benchmark, to really "burn in" your chip at that voltage and speed.

I could post 900mhz @ 100fsbw/ 1.9volts, but it locked up before windows, or right after reaching windows. So, I dropped it to 800mhz @ 1.9volts, and that was fairly stable. I ran the Sisoft Sandra burn in wizard for a total of 10 hours.

I also did a motherboard BIOS update, bought an aftermarket HSF, Increased my I/O voltage to 3.8volts, lapped my cpu slightly, added thermal grease, and now it runs stable. Info is below..

thanks pals,
I'll try it.
