View Full Version : FOP-32 heatsink
Will the Globalwin FOP-32 heatsink work on a PIII? Is it a good match?
Thanks

over the oem hsf I got a 20 degree f drop in temps. It also used to max out at about 135 where now it's about 105 max. I'd say yes.

The FOP-32 (with an 80mm fan strapped to the top of it) is what I use on my Celeron 600 system, and it seems to work just dandy. I kind of wonder if I accidentally got the wrong type, since the groove on the side where the plastic of the socket is seems to be much deeper than it needs to be- I currently have a cardboard 'shim' between the HSF and the raised part of the socket to make the HSF more level. I wonder if I accidentally got a Socket A HSF? :p Despite that, which could easily have been my mistake, it works quite well... running my Celeron 600@900 at 2.0v and running Seti@home and UT at the same, my temperatures don't get over about 30C. (note: I do have one side of the case open with a small desk fan blowing in, so I may be getting slightly better-than-average airflow). I'd definitely recommend it, especially since you can generally get them for around $20 or so...
Thanks. Sounds like a good recommendation. I'll go with it.

fop 32 will be good, maybe a tad weak for a pIII, but it is inexpensive, and a well designed hsf.
