First of all hello to all. I am new to this board but decided to ask here cause it seems there is more knowledge posted here than on other boards I have seen.

I just replaced my celeron 500 with a pentium III 600eb I got cheap. The rest of the system are:
128mb of 133 ram
p3v4x mobo
jaton geforce 2 mx 32meg video card
15 gig 7200 hard drive
an so on....

I ran the 3d mark 99 benchmark just to see how it performed against my old system and it did a lot better. It got a 3d mark score of 6174 and a cpu mark of 7780, hehe maybe no great shakes but way better than the celeron.

Is this an average score for a system like this? I am unfamiliar with overclocking and all so throw myself upon the vast knowledge that is this board.

Also I am running Direct X 7 due to fears of the 8 version I have heard brought up. Which version is best for me? It runs like a champ so far so my attitude is if it aint broke dont fix it. I've overstepped my computer skills bounds foolishly for no reason and learned a hard lesson so I dont wanna change anything unless there is major benefit. Is there??

Also my card worked great right out of the box with the stock drivers. Should I try the vaunted Detonator versions or let good enough alone.

Please, be gentle, Im not a overclockin machine so bear with me please hehe. Thanks guys!!!

--More RAM would help, otherwise a stable config.

--Sounds good to me... how does it run (this is the usual test --some PCs have poor scores but better stability...)

Is this an average score for a system like this?
--Dunno.

It runs like a champ so far so my attitude is if it aint broke dont fix it.
--My thoughts exactly. If you like the performance you should stay right where you are and enjoy your PC (which will be a pretty good UT machine with a geforce 2).
