Sup y'all,

I got a PIII 700E a couple of weeks ago, and as of yesterday have successfully overclocked it to 980 MHz. And it's rock stable. That's the good news. The bad news is...my vcore voltage. It's freakin 2.33 V! The damndest thing is it won't even post with 2.10 or below. I know the voltage is hella high, but my CPU temps are 29 C at idle and 34 C at full load...doesn't seem too hot. But is this high voltage killing my chip? I thought the main culprit of raising voltage was heat, and I don't seem to have that problem...I have an ALPHA PAL HSF with the Delta 38 CFM fan on it, and I run it open case. Plus I haven't lapped my heatsink or used Artic Silver yet, so I could drop the temps some more. I'd be more worried, but everything is so stable...should I be worried? And will lowering the temp some more potentially lower the voltage I need to use? I'm running Prime 95 24-7 to burn it in...hopefully, that will eventually work. But I need some suggestions! HELP!!!

Burn it in at 1.9 volts. 2.33 is too high!

That is all!

1.9 V at stock FSB? And for how long?

Burning in does help so you can reduce your CV, try burning in and you should be able to set it down some. there are different opinions on burning in, read some of the different post and get a idea for yourself what your going to do I would stay away from burning in by getting your chip up to say 50C at stockFSB and high CV I did and I lost a little ground but for some it has worked. [is that all] i'm not sure all chips are different sounds like your doing a pretty good job so far but burning is a good place to start give it a try for a couple weeks and see how you do and get back with us as well as read up on more tips. Some chips take longer then others. just to let you know i think i would do everything possible to keep your chip as cool as possible lapping, arctic silver, ect ect

i would say you could burn it in at stock fsb and 2v if your temps not a problem. every chip takes a different amount of time, just keep testing the higher fsb and dropping back down until it works...

i read that default voltage time 15% is the max for the board

well, increase the voltage until the chip fries. When it fries, you know that you shouldn't go past that point :D LOL. only kidding,

I tihnk 2.33 is excessive. I would be happy with it personally, but I'm silly. You could waste your time burning in, or you could settle for a lowe rspeed.
