Since amd proccessors are supposed to be faster than intel,
clock for clock what would my xp 2400 be on par with if compared to a p4?
at 2.1ghz? i'd say about 2.6-2.8ghz intel.
So what would 2.8 on an amd be?

What if you add in the cache of a Barton?
;) lol, just kidding Maxvla...just finding this kinda humorous for some reason. Egh, it's too late to be awake..
Well 100mhz from xp to barton so would it be 100mhz from barton to intel? If 2.8 is only 3.4ish then maybe I should find out where the intel land is.

A 2.8 Barton would be comparable to something way faster than a 3.5 P4, more like a 4.0 P4 - my 2500+ at 2.4 is about a 3500+, so at 2.8 it's probably closer to 3.9 or 4.0 and with a higher FSB/lower clock speed, you could get an even higher rating - a 2.3 w/245 fsb is a 3600+. The possibilities really are endless with different combinations of settings. You can get a lot more performace clock-for-clock with one setting than you can with another - it really depends on the capability of your system (RAM, CPU, NB, Cooling, etc).
uh. no.
2.8 barton is in league with a 3.5ghz intel. 4ghz is your dream ;)

2.8 = 3.5?
hmm
I'd also have to say it's higher than that... more like 3.7... but it depends entirely on what you're doing. As it has been said many times, AMD is good for Office Apps and Games... in that area I'd say a 2.8 AMD=3.7 P4; for video encoding a 2.8 is probably more like a 3.2 P4...
