this site (http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_home_pro.asp) looks like it covers most of it.
where to buy, i would try directron.com first. usually just tell peeps to run to wal mart, less of a hassle.

If you like experimenting with your computer or will be using a network, choose Pro; but if you are just doing simple every-day tasks, choose Home. Pro has IIS, much better network support, the option for a classic or xp style login screen (home only gives xp style option), and probably other things too that I have not noticed yet. I think most people here would be better off with Pro. (http://short-circuit.zapto.org)

If your going to run a server of any type (file, IIS, ftp, game) you really should have pro. Home edition cannot login into a domain, although you can do basic workgroup networking (file/print sharing) with it.
Also from a gaming aspect I think it plays games better than home, although is personal opinion.
Only if the computer is going to see light everyday uses (email, ms office, light gamer) would I recommend Home. Pro has much better flexibility in it's uses.
Also I found out you can't use Remote Desktop Connection on XP Home? That just sux! Even if you're using your PC for an every-day use, this thing is one of the most important out there, if you need something from your PC while u're far away from it, just connect to it and take it or... welll you know :).
