View Full Version : Does 3DMark2001 score go down with increased vcore?

My score seems to fall as I increase the CPU voltage (1.525 -> 1.675), is that how its supposed to be? Temps appear to be roughly the same...

Drop by how much? What power supply unit do you have?

On a side note, server rules do not allow us to add links in sig other than 3dmark team and other locations on this site. I removed mine after some people messaged me. Well I agree it's better allow us to add links of benchmark resaults for comparing and information. Then again I have no right to decide anything on this matter.

I think I noticed the same thing too. My 3Dmark was fluctuating by a few hundred points as I was trying to find a workable voltage. I just attributed it to the usual margin of error.

Yea, mine fell from 21,100 where it once was at 1.525v to 20,800s as i increased the voltage to 1.675v, all just to make prime95 stable, since I've noticed that prime was not stable at 1.525 but was stable at 1.675 (291fsb). So 200-300 points lost ;/

thermal throttling probably. Too much heat can also slow down your cpu. Makes it that much more inefficient.

Does it happen every time? It's only 300 points difference. If it's every time, then it could be the reason kc428 said. Otherwise it can just be a "bad" run.

1.525v to 1.675v is a big increase. Try something between them. 1.55v, 1.575v, 1.60v, 1.625v, 1.650v are all the available voltage between them.
