Umm, maybe I'm just ignorant, but I have a Gigabyte Radeon 9700 Pro, and did not notice this before, but its missing one of the two ramsinks. It still works fine, but the top ramsinks are missing.
I have not modded, or overclocked this card at all, and I was just going to buy a Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer, and use my normal ramsinks, since they are pretty good, but then I noticed that 2 of the Samsung chips are uncovered.
There never was a cooler on these, its clear since I would have noticed a loose sink inside my case and there is no residue of a TIM on the chips.

Should I get a return from the manufacturer, or is that not possible since I can't reach my reseller (Abit refused me a RMA, since I wasn't in Benelux. They told me I had to get it through my reseller [In Malaysia])?

I'm guessing you didn't buy that card from pc superstore.. We have this think in finland called p*ska tsäkä. I hope you get it replaced or something.

I buy all my stuff from Verkkokauppa, but I got my current rigs main components in Malaysia.
Its pretty bad luck, but if it got through Gigabyte's quality control, maybe I could get it exchanged.

Ostan kaikki kamat Verkkokaupasta, mut nykyisen boxin osat ostin Malesiasta.
Tää on aika p@ska tsäkä, mutta jos tää on pääsy Gigabyten tuote tarkastuksen läpi, niin ehkä sais vaihdettuu.

A little Finnish lesson. :D

If your happy with the cards performance, just buy a 4 pack of copper ramsinks from an online vendor in your country/ Those factory ramsinks are anodized aluminum. Heck you really dont even need ramsinks. But copper ones will look just as good.

If you have an old aluminum anodized gold colored heatsink laying around, you could cut it up and use that with a spot of thermal adhesive.

Yeah, but I'm not too worried about the sinks, and will probably just cut up an old sink, but I am wondering how this got through quality control. Since it is in essence, a defective product (missing a piece) then shouldn't the company exchange my product? I am asking this since I can't be bothered to buy thermal epoxy, and also if its a higher revision.

Probably one of the sales people in malesia needed a heatsink for the southbridge of his motherboard, and thought "this sucker ain't coming back to complain"... :D

I put mine on with as3 and a small dab of superglue on one corner. They fall of from time to time, but if i needed to get them off, they would be really easy to.
