I recently upgraded my system and since upgrading have had problems reaching 3200 i.e. 200mhz without the system crashing. The specs are as follows:
MB: DFI Lanparty NFII Ultra B
CPU: Athlon XP3200+
Heatsink: Arctic Cooling Copper Silent 2TC suitable for up to 3400+
RAM: Corsair Pro XMS3200LL 2*512mb running in dual channel
Gfx: Radeon 9600XT 256mb
HD: Maxtor 80GB 5400rpm 130ATA (C: drive)
HD2: Maxtor 60GB 5400rpm 100ATA (D: drive)- used as back up drive
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy
I have had the sound card working for a long time so that can be ruled out as have I had the 60GB HD but neither of these are likely to cause a problem anyway. The 80GB HD is relatively new but I have had it working with no problems. The MB is new and I have had it working at lower settings with the 3200 CPU as well as at full settings for my old XP1700. The gfx is also new but had had no problems. The RAM is also new but I have only got it to work at settings below 3200 or 200mhz. The CPU has no problem with temp running at around 34-40 switched on without any programs running. However I have only managed to set the mhz to 199 equivalent to 2.19 mhz. Taking up to 200mhz in the bios which is stock speed 3200 causes my computer to freeze everytime it reaches windows or a couple of minutes after entering windows it then either restarts or I have to manually restart. I am unsure of exactly where the problem lies, I tested the RAM in another computer at it seems to work fine at 200mhz (400mhz DDR), the MB seemed to work fine up till this point as does the CPU. I have tried reformating and when trying to reinstall windows i get the error DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP 6*000000D1 (0*00000004, 0*00000002, 0*00000000, 0*F76F8326)
I can therefore not reinstall windows without taking the CPU setting down to 199Mhz. This seems a strange problem and I can not understand what it wrong, the RAM seems to work fine, the MB seems to have no problems up until 3200 is selected although the MB should have no problems running this and also should have no problems running the RAM as it can take up to 3GB pc3200.
Can anyone suggest anyway to help me?
