Yes I know this line of processors is forgotton now, but I just got given this free celeron pc,

ASUS CUWE-RM mobo.. says in manual it supports P3 coppermine and Celeron Mendocino,
it came with a mendocino 500mhz, this is totally **** ><

I got a free TUALATIN 1.1ghz celeron processor, but it doesnt work on it, I have the right ram i think 2x 128mb pc 133 ram

Is there anyway at all I can get this TUALATIN to work?

if there is an update for your bios it is usually because there was bugs in the previous version and updating is usually a good idea and as for your memory the specs for the board call for pc100 and while most mem is backwards compatible (ie pc133 will run pc100 speed) the mobo might not be capable of this, are you getting any beeps when you turn power on?
Here is a link for specs

That mobo is not compatibly with Tualatins. You need an adapter.

Yes probably :) , but you need fcpga2 -> fcpga adapter. Search this forum and google for "370GU", "linlin" and "powerleap" and you will understand what is your problem.

if you dont mind disconnecting pins on the CPU and reconnecting other ping to other locatins on the CPU an adapter is not req.

try this shop in the UK http://www.titaniummicros.co.uk/

They sell the Upgradeware 370GU or something like that which is comparable to the Powerleap adapter but cheaper. I've tried the slot adapter from them and it works like a champ, also, it was 1/3 the cost of the Powerleap.

You will need a Socket370T Adapter as stated in previosu posts. These are relativly cheap. You may also get lucky and find a cheap mo board for that proc. It was a good chip in its day. Mine clocked to 1.5gHz on air all day long

Still a good chip today, im still using mine.

I got a 370GU adaptor I dont use anymore. I used it on an Abit BX133-raid and SA6R motherboards. I did notice that when you set the voltage up in the bios it would be good, but next time you reboot the adaptor would always make it somehow go back to default voltage. The included heatsink and fan is small but does a good job due to the fan spinning like a turbo on a japaness super car. You can however use different heatsink and fans, just make sure you use the retentioner clip from the 370GU package.

Worth doing dude, thats if your ram can do at least 133 and your motherboard can change the fsb, you maybe looking at 1463mhz at default voltage.
Also if you can get the same Asus motherboard as in my sig for cheap then you can forget about the adaptor. This motherboard is the best, more stable than using with just the adpator.
