View Full Version : Can you reflash the bios for higher voltage in an Abit bx6 R2 ????
I guess I about said it all above. I had read where some Abit boards allowed the reflash of the bios to higher voltages using the switch /cc in the command line. I tried to reflash "bx6_qr.bin" with the /cc switch on my bx6 R2, but nothing changed.
Does it not work on this board, or should there be more on the command line?

i have an abit bx6 2 and the board lets you go up to 2.3 v. why do you want to go higher.
Because my Abit bx6 R2, with the most recent QR bios, does not allow voltages for the p3 processor I have, which is a 750e, to go above 1.85 v.
I considered trying to reach higher voltages because several of the highest oc'd 750e's showed that they did so at voltages 1.9 v or higher. My machine gets to 1035 mhz (138 fsb) in windows, but fails the Prime95 tests. I am just trying to find the extent of the processor's usable range.
I intend to operate at 1000 mhz (133 fsb) since that is very stable at 1.75 v. This mode is Prime95 and game stable, with appropriate speeds for the pci and for the memory. However, I wanted to test this processor's possibilities under the same conditions that others have tested their processors before I entered a description in the database.
The database played an important role in helping me decide what to try, so I want to be thorough in relating my own experience.

Wrapping the VID pins would allow higher voltage. It is more complex if your cpu is a cc0 though. If you have a cb0 it is easy.
wow this is odd indeed. i have the qr update installed and i can put my celeron 566 up to 2.3 if i really wanted to fry stuff. it might be your slotkit.
hmm the qr update doesnt support p3's above 700 so this might be part of it although it really doesnt matter.

Yes it works on our board. Set max voltage in bios. Boot with your flash disk and type : BXR_QR.bin /sn/cc , when the flash is complete exit with F10 and hit reset to boot. Enter bios and set'er up :)
Coool!!!!
As advertised, it gave me up to 2.05. I had tried it without the /sn, but it was no go. Also no go if you do not first set to max voltage. But for those that are concerned, it does not rob you of low voltages if you have a wish to get back to those!
I've read messages of people on other abit boards going so far as to add pots to the board to get there! I'm glad I didn't try that.
Much gracias, LutaWicasa !!

Oh ebola,
I wonder if it has something to do with yours being a celeron?
Or maybe you were sleepwalking at the computer one night and reflashed your board without knowing it! ;-)
