It's a 48x Lite-On, and it says "Burn an entire cd in just over 2 minutes!"

So ok, it comes with a blank cd, I put it in. Nero sees it as able to burn at 48x, I disable anything that would take more time, caching on the harddrive, testing, etc. Just burn and close the cd please. :)

9 minutes for that? My 8x burner burns a cd in 9 minutes, what gives???

:( Dissapointed.

is DMA enabled. If its set to PIO only in the device manager it will do that. The setting is under the IDE channel in the device manager.

Could be a variety of things causing slow speed.

Most likely cause is often the media. Even though it's rated at 48x, not all will actually perform up to that speed.

Yeah, I also think its a poor quality disk. My liteon came with a 48x disk also, and it burned at something like 24X, not as slow as you are saying, but liteons will check the media before burning to see what the best possible burn speed would be. Try another disk, and see if you have the same problem.

Is the burner on the same IDE cable as the hard drive ?
