Well, this is the first time i have tried to setup a computer that only uses scsi drives. The controller bios works fine and i did a low level format because the drive was really old. Now, the windows 98 bootdisk will not recognize the scsi drives. I need a disk that will do this. I am using scsi II for both the CDROM and HDD.

I just need a disk, i dont think you will need any more specifics which i do not have on me atm, but if you need em just ask.
Thanks.

We need to know the type of SCSI controller...i.e. the name and manufacturer/model number. Once you find that goto the manufactures website and find the disk that has the drivers. Then when you do a boot from floppy or CD there should be a step that says hit something (i know it's f6 for win2k and XP...pretty sure 98 but not 100%), to install 3rd party drivers. Hit the key a couple times and eventualy it'll ask to insert a driver disk...plop in the disk with the sdrivers from the manufacturer.

well the problem is this, the card is HP so the manufacturer does not have anyhting on it, i can check again tomorrow but i do not think i will be able to find any thing.

Would it work if i were to boot from IDE to windows (on a drive with windows already installed, borrowed from another computer) where windows will see the drive and install windows onto the SCSI drive from the IDE drive's instance of windows?

If you get the 98SE boot disk from bootdisk.com om the first link. It has the appropriate ASPI files to load Adaptec and many other SCSI controllers. Failing that, look at the controller chips on the card and post the numbers on the controller chip. If you can get the numbers I can probably locate drivers for more exotic controllers.
