Hello everyone
I've been playing the DesertCombat mod version .7 for about a week now. Awesome mod to an awesome game. However when I try to play multiplayer, its somewhat of a hit or miss situation. Somedays it would show me that the CD KEY is in use and somedays it would let me join a multiplayer game.
The official BF1942 support site suggested that I clear the cache, temporary internet files and history files. I did all those but still cant play online.
My Norton firewall has been configured to let BF1942 access the internet. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks
It may be possible that someone has used a random cd key generator, got lucky and managed to bring up your cd key. That is the reason why you can't log on certain days, because the thief is playing. As to what to do, besides emailing EA about, I dunno. I've never ran into this situation personally. :(

This is a security thing, basically, someone has, or is using the same key as you. Whether you gave it to them, they took it from you, you took it from them, or you got it from them, I don't know. I do know, that if you rightfully own a copy of the game, that contacting the company(EA?) would be the right thing to do. If it's a friend or something, tell him to stop, or at the very least schedule blocks of when you can play.

I paid for the game and never let anyone borrow the game. I will get the game registered first then contact EA. Thank for the reply and help.

I hate those random cd key generators....its a one and a million chance that it will happen to you, but when it happens, it always seems like its on you.....ohh well, hope EA helps.

Have you tried re-entering your CD key for the game? I had to do this with rtcw awhile back because I was getting a similar message (invalid_cd_key). It turned out the key just got corrupted or something like that, apparently it happens to a lot of people for wolf.
This happened to me with my first copy of Bf1942. I took it back to EB where I bought it and exchanged it. Never had a problem since.

Did you buy the game BRAND NEW or used? if it was used, there could be a chance that someone copied it then traded it in to be slick. If you bought it new, then definitely contact EA.

I bought the game brand new from Bestbuy. I dont usually pay $40 for a game, I usually wait till a game gets old enough and cost $19.95. I thought BF1942 was worth $40 which it is.
I contacted EA and the reply was to clear my temporary internet files. I could not find the folder itself but I can delete the temporary internet files through the options in Internet Explorer.
Another option they offered is to photocopy the front of the CD-ROM and fax it to EA. I may have to do this since I've already tried the clearing cache and deleting the temporary internet files.
Thank you all for the replies and help.
