A couple days ago, I bought an old BF6 from a friend of mine to put my Celly 633 in (with slocket adapter, of course) and OC the *^&# out of it. It boots stably in most any speed (within reason) I could boot up, but once it hits the magical temp 'warning' threshold (70C) which I set in the BIOS, it freezes. Is this a function of the motherboard stopping the proc's functions, or is the the proc freezing? Also, I know a Celeron should NEVER hit 70C, unless its outside in the desert in a closed case with no HSF unit. I know I need a better cooler, but no cooler I have ever seen would let ANY chip run that hot. Could the stock Intel HSF unit possibly be that bad?
mm.. 70c, yep I think thats your problem :) Check your PCI/AGP dividers are set right, along with the CPU voltage etc... and also, are you using thermal paste? Always a bonus!! Ensure your HSF is sitting flat against the CPU core too. Intel HSF's certainly aint the best but the CPU shouldn't be hitting 70c quite so soon!! 50-55 max with a cooler like that...

Are you using the thermistitor that you plug into the motherboard, or the one that is already on it? It could be that your temps are fine just that some motherboards thermistitors are not working correctly. Also try lapping the heatsink and die of the cpu.

Thanks for replies guys.....
I'm not sure exactly how the MoBo is getting the reading ; it's a socket 370 on a slocket adapter,so I'm not sure if the slocket takes the temp reading or if it pulls it off the CPU....I'm not sure how these Intel thingies work (I'm kind of an AMD guy :) ) It's running about 910 now (9.5*95), and works okay, but still friggin hot...no, I'm not using thermal paste...I guess it's giving 'burning in' a new meaning, huh? I'll get me some and a good HSF, and see what domes of it.
Take it easy.
