My rig is as follows.
PIII 866mhz
Asus Cusl2 MB
Asus V7700 GTS Geforce Deluxe 64M
PC133 Ram (2x128)

I have been building systems for awhile now, but just recently started to overclock.
I understand that small increments is best. so I started out at 137fsb from there i went up 1hz at a time. Everytime I went up I recorded the temp at idle, then run a cpu burn-in program and recorded the temp. At 150fsb I started running into stability problems with the boot.. so i bumped the core volts from the default 1.70 to 1.80 Then when I hit 153fsb I got some more errors.. I bumped the voltage up to 1.85. This setting gave me 994mhz (was looking for gig) idle temp was 33c/91f and cpu burn hit 43c/109f. I started to run 3dmark2001 to stress the system a little (i did this at each setting also) when all of a sudden the monitor went out, computer powered down, printer, desk lamp... all the things I had plugged into a line conditioner I have. Well I figured the load was just too much and plugged everthing into the wall. Went to boot the system up and it defaulted to a 433mhz pIII. I went back to my last successful setting and it still defaulted to 433mhz.
I reset everything back to normal and it works fine.
I tried again, but it seems now I can't get higher than 145fsb / 942mzh without it defaulting to 433mhz. Did I damage something.... ?
Could me overclocking the proc cause my line conditioner on my ac power to burn out?
Help... ...

I doubt that the computer had anything to do with the line conditioner's demise. It was just probably timew for it to die...

Sounds like a bios bug causing it to revert to the lower FSB. I would look for an upgrade, or even an older bios to try.

Okay I think I got it.

I am at 154fsb, 1001mhz idle temp is at 34c/93f that is with case temp at 28c/82f.
When I run cpu burn it goes up to 48c/118f. Is this okay?

Also, the computer gives me two choices at 154fsb, i can run my pc133 memory at 115 or 154... I get better framerates at 154. Will this hurt my memory?

Thanks for all you guys help... this forum rocks.

Nice overclock.
The temp is a little high but well within limits.
If it runs stable at that temp then its fine.
Memory will be fine it only gets "hurt" if you raise the voltage to it.

I have the same board with an 800EB and get the same problem as you ever once in a while. Usually only when I have it at a really high fsb though. As for better performance with what ram settings. I would leave it at the 133:133:33 ratio and just keep the fsb a little lower. You wont get as much processor speed but the added memory bandwidth will more than make up for it.
