View Full Version : How to tell stepping without looking at it

I have a 1900+ that came with an old HP system that recently had a tragic over heating accident and burnt up the processor which at the time was a pally. Now it got replaced under warranty and I looked at the chip and it has no sticker on it that tells the stepping. IS there a program that will tell me the stepping so that I know if it is worth getting a new mobo to attempt to OC it?

There is no sticker on the pallys. Its stamped on the core.

To my knowledge there is no program that will spit out the steeping for AMDs.

How could it possibly be a pally? I thought that they were not made anymore. I just got the system back with a new processor about a month ago. Are pallies still being made?

i reckon its a pally 1900+ was only made in pally cores *thinks anyway*

1900+ was only made in Pally core? Can anyone verify?

There are a few 1900 Tbreds, but not many, most likely it is a Pally

Maybe not the exact stepping, but CPUz will tell which
CPU core you have.
I am looking at my screen right now ... "Code name: Thoroughbred ... Technology: 0.13 ... Revision: B0"

It even says which Northbridge chip you have. :)

no one is stating the obvious..... ALL PALLYS HAVE A SQUARE CORE.. ALL TBREDS HAVE A RECTANGULAR CORE =d you dont need any steppings to tell you that.

WCPUID is your friend.

I just ordered a 1700+ for a friends comp assuming it would be a T-bred for some reason, but it was a pally... 0215... so it looks like there is a lot of old stock floating around... too bad he doesn't want to O/C, it's an AGOIA 9 and booted just fine at 1950 "accidentally" ;)

lol, you "accidentaly" booted your friend's comp at 500MHz OC without building up to it at all? That takes guts to do to your friend's comp. At least it is a dirt cheap processor that you did it on.

You can use GCPUID (My sig, red link) It will tell you whether its a Pally or a Tbred.
There's no way to get the stepping throught software, but at least get the chip's revision.
