Im hesitant to spend $350 for 1gb Mushkin 3500 Blk lvl2, i dont feel that the lower timings justify the cost

Im looking to overclock a 2.4C to about 3.5ghz (285-295fsb) and will most likely run it in 5:4 ratio on a Asus P4C800dlxE (DDR450-480)

im looking for timings 2-3-3-6 or lower

would anyone recommend OCZ 3700 Gold Rev2? or how bout MushkinPC4000?

why not try to find some nice bh-5 ? I know its hard to find but if you look hard you will find :)

isnt it true that low ram timings arent as crucial with Intel P4 systems as they are with Athlon XPs?

perhaps i can invest in cheaper ram with a bit more relaxed timings (i.e. OCZ pc3700 gold rev2)

im using the cas u want to u.. and check my rig, my ram is pretty cheap and it looks cool :)

$175 per stick!

Keep in mind the OCZ PC3700 Golds Rev. 2.0 are rated 2.5-3-3-7, not CAS 2 like the Rev. 1.0s. 512 MB sticks are not cheap either.

Look for some Kingston HyperX3000. Newegg had them for awhile. Around $103 per 512 MB stick. They were BH-5 or BH-6.

whats with bh-5 and bh-6 anyways? how would u know that the ram is using that kind of chip?

i thought that CAS latency doesnt really affect bandwidth as much as the other latencies

and i thought only PC3200 or above was recommended for Intel P4 systems

pc3200 and the new ones are expensive and yet the old ones were better performer but hard to find.. i guess thats what he meant? :)

There is a significant difference in bandwidth between 2-3-3-6 and 2.5-3-3-6. Similarly, between 2.5-4-3-6 and 2.5-3-3-6 (CAS-to-RAS). The other settings don't make that much diff, maybe 50 Sandra unbuffered points.

You will see a big diff between 2-2-2-5 and 2-3-3-6.

I was wondering if you can sell BH-5 on Ebay and just took a look. My God, price up to $255 for two 512 MB Mushkin Level II??? The seller doesn't even post overclock settings either!

ok, because i was under impression that Cas latency didnt matter cuz what this guy told me in this thread:

why dont u check out some of the adata vitesta pc4000 .i remember in late summer when it first came out, guys were running it 285+.that stuff can run pretty high 1-1 especially on 3+v. plus its pretty inexpensive... or checkout ebay.. there's still some 512 bh5 sticks floating around, you could probably get for cheap...

Oh no!!!!! I thought I saw some chips with ADATA on them at Staples the other day. They were Memory Master or one of the other brands they carry......
