I have a 800eb on a AbitBE6-2.This is on an adapter used to put a 370 chip on a slot 1 MOB.I was wondering about buying a PIII 1gig chip with a bus speed of 100.Its labeled as a coppermine SECC2 retail box. Will this chip work on my system? Is this a good upgrade?Any thoughts, comments, opinions would be very helpfull.

Depends on your bios. If your MB supports 1GHz PIII's you would be better off with the 133FSB version. The higher memory bandwidth from the increased FSB will make a definite speed difference over the 100FSB chip.

I am just wondering why you want to get rid of the 800EB. I can overclock mine to a gig at the least. A 1ghz p3 usually won't overclock that high. Your performance gains are not really that much. You would probably be better off saving the $200 and spend it on a real good graphics card.

my chip really doesnt like to be overclocked much past 870.I have crucial ram, soundblaster live card, network card(cable modem).I use a pep66 cooler and i put a 120mm fan blowing right on my cards and board. The Addtronics case is a full tower with 5 fans and a 300watt power supply. The video card is a V3 3000,so maybe I will get a nice G2 card.I love online gaming, any opions on a nice card?

I know, I just found a PIII 1gig slot 1 100fsb OEM. And I want it! Cant get it though, it's $265.00 plus S&H. A little steep for me. The wife would kill me.

I have one. Love it. It is running 1200mhz stable. I pulled the retail h/s fan off and put on an ALPHA P3125 with 2 Sunon 27cfm fans and some Artic Silver2.. It is on a Soyo 6BA+100 board. The box says this:

" This boxed Intel Pentium III processor has only been tested and validated with Intel Server Board L440GX+ (order code: BOXL440GXG) and Intel SR2000 Server Chassis (order codes: KB2HS, KB2HSU) or Intel SC5000 Server Chassis (order codes: KHDBASEU, KHDHSU, KHDKSRPU ).

Integration into any other board and chassis configuration may cause damage, may result in out-of-specification configuration and may void Intel's processor warranty."

P.S. Retal h/s fan is for sale cheap... never used. If anyone needs one.
