Linking Together a Tv Tuner Card and 5.1 speakers into onboard sound

i have run into a problem with hooking my tv tuner card and 5.1 speakers into my onboard sound.

the sound from the tv tuner card needs to connect with the line-in on the onboard sound, and also 1 of the channels for the speakers has too as well, equalling in 2 plugs wanting to fit in 1 socket.

the question is, can i get a 3.5mm plug to 2 x 3.5mm socket cable to be able to hook the 2 plugs into the 1 socket?

it would connect, but i dont think it would work. I think you can only have in or out in a plug, you cant have both at the same time.

any suggestions on how to get it to work then?
would buying a soundcard solve it?

Mobo's onboard sound dont allow 5.1 hookups, you would have to get a 5.1 sound card.
