View Full Version : [SOLVED] PRoblems with PIV on Asus P4T
Everything is hooked up properly, have it set on jumperless mode, everything is getting power, however the monitor is not getting a signal. Have swapped out an AGP, for a PCI, etc., that is not the problem, also the fan on the vid card is getting power. Anyone one know what this might be? Thanks in advance for your help.

Alright, after hours upon hours of troubleshooting I was able to solve my problem. Hence, I would like to share it with my fellow overclockers, since this appears to be a common problem with Pentium 4's on the Asus board. If you are not familiar with this setup, the Asus board comes with a case plate that you mount the board on, in order to support the heatsink/fan. On top of the plate is a rubber mat, to prevent shorts. If the screws are overtightened, the board will short. In addition, you also need to place those red paper washers between the plate and case itself to prevent shortage. After a trip to Fryes, I was able to get the system up and running. These processors run really cool (compared to my old Athlon 800), so I look forward to overclocking. Hope this helps for any of you who run into similar problem!

those paper washers are not meant to be used to mount the mobo to the case. Actually the mobo needs to make contact with the case as these are ground points.
However I've yet to even see a P4 board or processor, and if this is something new I'd really love to see pics if at all possible.
Glad you got it solved tho.......
