I am thinking about buying a cel 566 that is supposed to run at 952mhz from overclockedcpus.com. Has anyone dealt with this company before, or have any other input. This is an upgrade from my p3450, and will go in my abit bh6 ver 1.0 mb. I'm also going to order an abit slocket and gorb from the same company I think. Thanks for any advice.

sounds ok, you can get any P3 700E and get it to 933 with decent cooling. Go with a much better cooler than the Gorb, they aren't that good.

I'll second that motion on the Gorb.....If you get the Gorb now, you WILL want to upgrade later. Trust me.

That Celeron will be running right about at the Gorb's limit for cooling capability. They just can't cool sufficiently above and beyond that, especially when you crank up the vcore.

I replaced the Gorb on my C600/Soltek slocket, with an Alpha PEP66T. Dropped the temps down by 8 degrees celcius. Went a bit faster, too.

Start out with a really good hsf, and you won't have to worry about it again. Get an Alpha or GlobalWin, forget the Gorb. They're just not cut out for moderate to heavy overclocking.

Been there, done this......

LutaWicasa and Mr B-- Your are absolutely right about how bad is the Gorb perform. I'm getting a better one now.

What do you think about MSI slocket?

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I haven't placed the order yet, and as I recall they have a globalwin 32 there also, maybe I will go with that instead of the gorb. Who knows maybe I will shoot for 1054, hehe.
When I get that and my new leadtek gts pro I will be ready for some serious fragging. Take care all.

"What do you think about MSI slocket?"

The MSI 6905 Master ver2 & newer are my slotkets of choice :)

Mr. B is right, you can get a PIII 700 fcpga chip on pricewatch for about $120, this includes a stock intel HSF which I was able to clock, out of he box, stable at 933mhz. This can't be any more than this site is trying to pawn off these celerons for.

Imagine what a small investment in good cooling could do!!

Well I took your advice and ordered the global win fan, also I picked up a c600 which they say will clock to 1008 mhz, an msi slocket, and a smear of arctic grease all for $117.00 shipped. Once I get it and install it I will do a post and let everyone know how it goes. Again, thanks for all the help. If all goes as planned, thats a lot of mhz for a small buck.

I installed the processor and fan I ordered and thought I would post an update. It is up and running at 112 fsb giving me a c600@1008 mhz. I have been running benchmarks and playing games all night without a single glitch or error. The final setup is at 1.85 volts with a globalwin 32 fan and an msi slocket. Between the new videocard and processor I went from a 3d mark of 1774 to 5966. Also q3 fps in default jumped from 49.1fps to 117.7fps. Thanks everyone for your input and helping me to make this overclocking project a success. One more word...so far I would have to say the service at overclockedcpus.com is great, so far they have delivered as promised. I will do one more update after I have run the chip for awhile, but at this point I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Good deal, Slowpoke. Sounds like you did get a lot of bang for your buck. I'm glad you changed your mind about the cooler, you won't regret it. Those are very impressive benchmark increases. Let the 3D games begin!
