I know I'll probably get some negative comments about this.....I cant blame anyone though! I have a compaq 5714. It has a 466 celeron, what are the chances of being able to overclock it?
Thanks

Maybe with overclocking software like soft fsb.
I would doubt you could overclock with bios or jumper settings.

Low Life,

Your major component that will limit you from overclock is your mommyboard. Even if you can manage to overclock somehow, you wont be able to OC much at all and you'll have more stability problems than the custom hand-assembled system. Your Hard Drive is more likely not upto its performance to handle OC'ed speeds. So, it's a lot better you start all over... Build the new system from scratch and get the very best of what you want. Or if your computer case is big enough and it's ATX platform, you might be able to just replace the Mommyboard to Abit or ASUS. Then you should be able to overclock easy as Strawberry Pie.~~~

I would recommend going with the new motherboard before I would go out and build a new system. Try a new motherboard and then if that doesn't work build an ew computer.

or you could try CPUFSB it has a broader range of compatible computers, that's if you don't want to change your motherboard.......of course using software like this won't take you very much higher
