First off, here is my system:
Intel PIII 700mhz cB0 stepping
ASUS CUSL2-C Mobo
Elsa Gladiac GeForce2 GTS
Alpha PAL6035 Heatsink w/ 5000rpm Sunon Fan (arctic sliver II)
Corsair 256MB PC150 SDRAM
Ok, here are my questions:
1. At 1.95V at 973mhz, the system seems stable and will run 3DMark 2001. However, it won't finish 3DMark at 980Mhz (1.95V). Any suggestions? 1.95V is the maximum. Is it safe to be running at 1.95V?
2. When I first tried to o/c this processor, it gave me Windows at 1000Mhz. Now, it won't even post at 1000mhz. Any idea as to why?
3. The CPU temperatures in windows seem to be anywhere between 35-50 degrees Celsius (when running at 966 or 973 mhz). Does this seem normal?
4. Will the addition of a bue orb to my Intel 815ep chipset give me any more o/c stability?
Thanks a lot
Nice setup except the cpu is a cB0.
It probably will still go to 1ghz.
Just for the heck of it lower your memory timing even thou you have great memory and try.
If thats no help try putting the memory into a different slot.
I would not put any more voltage to the cpu.

Answer 1: Related with Question 3. You have a nice cooling but your temp is bit too high. Is 50C your idle temp or max load temp? Your Vcore is bit too high. These probably explain why yours struggled in 3Dmark 2.1k at that OC'ed speed. You need to some how bring that temperature down and try bring that Vcore down. Can you run your rig stable at that speed with lower Vcore?
Answer 2: Your Vcore is too high causing high rise on Temp. your cpu got stumpped i think.. as if it was not prepared to take that Voltage when you tried to start the computer. The overclcoked CPU can behave differently when booting windows at different times. This happened to my rig before and it was due to high voltage(1.95) AND at the speed of 1085mhz.
Answer 3: Refer to Answer 1.
Answer 4: It sure will help but at that FSB level, your Mobo doesn't need help I think. Your mobo should be able to handle it no problem at those FSB speeds.

your prob at the max
Damn 700 chips are a hassle above 933. Try to burn in the CPU at a high voltage and default speed for a day or two and see if there's any more inprovement. Without a significant investment in time and $$$ you probably won't be going much higher. I was please with 933 with that chip, as hot as it was...
