I have an 800E right now at 976(1.8V). Ive been thinkin about eventually upgrading my cpu to a 1ghz with 133 bus and ocing it. I have looked at the cpu database, and some of them OC well and others dont OC at all. Is there a general rule for picking out a good 1ghz? What should I look for(Plant,# ect)?. If I cant oc past 1.1 then it wouldnt really be a worthwhile upgrade. I know there is chance involved, but there has to be something i can do to sway the odds in my favor :) !!
Thanks.

If you read the data base a little closer I think you will find that most people have either stopped because they dont want to take chances or the biggest reason is that there motherboard will not let them get past150 fsb. I just vidpinned my proccesor for more voltage last night and was succesful in getting 2.05 for CV so now my p31g is running at 1262 but i'm still burning in and not sure how stable it is last night i was running in windows and i was at 1278 but it was not stable gaming. now at 168fsb its been stable but i have to play games for a couple of hours with no lock ups before i can say its perfectly stable. my chip is Costa Rico, stepping 6. before the 2.05Cv i was running at 1225 with 1.9CV I would think with the rite MB you should have no problem reaching 1200. remember good memory and a hard drive that can handle overclocking will make the difference with these chips your running much higher FSB then other chips so good memory and hard drive matters a little more then most other intel chips [i know theres other guys with different chips running high FSB i'm just trying to be general]

Thanks for the info.
This is what ive got;
Asus Cusl2
128mb Pc133 Crucial (Cas 3)
30 gig Maxtor 5400 rpm, ATA33
How's my Motherboard, Ram, and HD for Ocing?
Do I need better mem or HD for OCing over 133? I have had no problems with it so far, but im only at 123 bus(I have an 800E).I know my Cusl2 is a good Ocing board.(I hope at least)
My mem is supposed to bea very good brand, only thing that bugs me is the Cas3. Would that effect the OCing ability of my ram?

Set your motherboard to run the pci bus at 1/3 if you can. Then set your cpu to 124mhz. This will make your pci bus 41.3mhz that will be the same as running the cpu at 165.2mhz with a 1/4pci bus setting.
If 967 is all your current cpu can do then you can only test at 120mhz 1/3 that will be a 40mhz pci bus or 160mhz with 1/4pci bus.
You wont know how the memory will do until you get a real 133mhz cpu.

MB sounds fine to me your Ram is OK but for a 1G you want pc150 cas222 is about the best my bandwidth is limited because i'm using 133corsair cas 2 to 100 and cas 3 at 133 Maxtor i think some have had trouble with but on the other hand some have not so I would try and see before i bought anything else. Your memory will work fine until you need more bandwidth as long as there are settings in BIOS so that you can run it below clock speed my MB has plus and minus clock speed settings as well as others that all need to be tweaked to get best performance as well as stability and with sisandra you will be able to benchmark your memory to get the most out of it. Oh i just noticed if you get another stick of memory get a 256 stick if you get another 128 and use your old stick to get 256 there is a small chance that it could bring instability but note the word small chance you would be better off with 256cas222 pc150
