Ok... here it is.
I new to this O\C thing so bare with me and excuse my newbie skillz! :)
I have read the beginners guide and had a look around the forums etc.
I am trying to O/C this system.

Celeron 533mhz
ABIT BM6 mobo
no extra cooling other than what came with the processor
PCI clock speed default = 66mhz
Multiplier factor default = x4.5

I have managed to O/C it so my CPU is running at 600mhz (I set my PCI clock speed to 75mhz).. and isn't very hot at all. This was on my first attempt and I was very please.
However. When I tried to push it further (PCI clock speed = 83mhz) this set my CPU speed up to 666mhz but windows wouldn't boot.
I also tried fiddling around with the multiplier factor which it mentioned in the mobo manual. But this didn't do anything.
What I want to know is can I push it any further or is that as far as it will go?
I am assuming that if I do push it further I will have to buy a new fan/cooling system.

It could be a temperature problem or you could have just reached the limit on the chip.

If you check the front page you will see that the Celeron 533mhz chip have been taken up to 802mhz

666 is very high and only 1 reported successfull overclock at that speed is reported on the CPUI database on the front page.

Try going for lower if possible.

it's very likely you also have 66mhz memory. If that's the case you may consider getting some 100 or 133 mhz memory. Considering you're overclocking the FSB (not the PCI) with memory designed to only run at 66 mhz, 100 or 133 would be running below their designed speeds and may offer a considerable improvement.

Do you have any type of thermal sensors on your mobo? I mean in bios, do you see any temp monitoring?

I'd honestly consider getting something (if it's not already built on board) to keep a sharp eye on the processor temps. Slightly warm to the touch is not always a good indication that it's "running cool".

Also, give us lots more info on your system. What type of Vid card? PCI? What kind of sound card. Hard drive(s)? Any Nic/Lan card(s)? Anything you can offer may help.

Is that a coppermine 533A or a mendocino 533?

coppermine=1.5Vc
mendocino=2.0Vc

If it is a mendocino, I think you should be happy with 600. 83 MHz bus really isn't a good thing.

On the other hand, if it's a coppermine, you should be able to reach 800 MHz.

What core voltage are you running now? Whats the S-spec (you can find it on the processor, looks like SLxxx)

Are you using thermal paste between the CPU/Heatsink? Or is it one of those horrid little thermal pads?
