View Full Version : Help!! Abit BM6 upgrade with FC-PGA Celeron 800, 100Mhz
Please help! I am trying to change my Celeron PPGA466 to Celeron FCPGA800 and I can not get to the SoftSetup menu, the mobo does not start up.
Everybody told it would work, but does not. What should I do? Can anybody help?

Before ya change the proc ya might update the bios to the most recent release. Then clear cmos, change procs and let us know how it go :)
Downloaded the latest bios which states Celeron 566(66) support. I could not find any newr version. I tried everything below, non of which helped. Any more suggestions?
Computer:
ABIT BM6 TAA 001 528
Bios BM6_tz.bin July or Aug.2000
Processor PPGA Socket 370 Celeron 466 (66)
Video card Asus v3800
Memory 100 MHz, 128 kB
Problem:
Tried to upgrade to Celeron 800(100) FC-PGA Socket
Tried the following:
Discharged the Bios ram
Removed all the other cards from the motherboard
before changing the chip, I changed frequencies and Vcc to lower values but
NON OF THESE HELPED!!

I used to have a bm6 with a 400 ppga and upgraded to a 533a fcpga. I read on the Abit site that the bm6 will not support a CC0 stepping processor, even with a bios upgrade. Thats why I only got the 533a to make sure it was a CB0 stepping. Looks like the Celeron 800 only comes in CC0.
Neo S370 FC-PGA to PPGA helped. I lost some stability of the system when increasing frequency, but the adaptor did its job, I can run the FC-PGA celeron 800 in my Abit BM6 motherboard!
