i have both cpu on my hand and thinking which one to choose.I got the p3 fcpga from work and i been running 566@850
today i got p3 700 and overclocked it to 700@784
with 112 fsb
i have 2 pc66 32mb and 1 pc100 64mb
i cant get my 700 to use 133 fsb ( i wonder why?) do i need to get pc 133 to get up to 133fsb?(kinda stupid question) i get video bios when i tried 133fsb and showing blank screen(must be memory....)
which one should i keep? celeron 566 or p3 700 both are fcpga
i tried to run 3dmark2k and 2001 but they are both f**ked up after i changed my vid's sink( giving me crapy scores but better fps in cs,q2 and quake3
i really dont know if i can get it up to 133fsb
i have abitbx6 rev1 (classic) geforce256 32sdr

I would go with the P3 700. Running it at default is still faster than the Celeron at 850 because of the extra cache. Try to run it without the PC66 ram because it is holding you back. Pc100 might make it but there is no guarantee to 133.
What is the stepping and/or S-spec of the P3?
What kind of cooling and thermal paste are you using?

Sounds like the Celeron is a good chip, but I think the P-III is the better choice in the long run. However, you're going to need a better cooler and do some cooling mods (at least a couple case fans). First off though, you'll need to invest in better RAM, luckily memory prices are very low right now. Get the best and the most you can afford. Minimum of PC-133 CAS2 128 meg module, but I'd seriously consider a PC-150 256 meg module. Mushkin, Kingmax, Corsair, and Crucial are all good brands that can be trusted. One big RAM module is better than several small ones.

One other thing that will hold you back is the Gorb. It looks nice but it doesn't preform well. Just remember Orb=Bad. There are alot of great coolers out there. Alpha PEP66 & 6035 are great coolers. Global Win FOP, WBK, or CAK are also great coolers. Swiftech coolers are sweet but quite expensive.

You should be able to get it up to 933 with the PC-133 or PC-150 which ever one you get and possibly with the Gorb. With the cC0 stepping you should be able to go to 933 and past with good cooling.

I'll second the above statement, but I would specifically recommend the Crucial memory. Joe had an article on the main page recently where he tested the various memory vendors' products. Crucial did as well or better than the others, and was less expensive too. Mushkin DOES guarantee performance at advertised spec (including their 150), but it IS more money. If you are on a budget (and I suspect that you are) then Crucial is a good choice. It is what I use.

im getting almost same results in 3dmark 2001 and 2k
p3 700@785 2001-1598
2000-2703
celeron 566@850 2001-1534
2000-2698
almost same results im wondering should i keep my celeron 566 and get better cooling fans, vid card, and memory (they all adds up to just one p3 cpu)
maybe if i get better fan and memory i think i can get my 566 close to 1ghz

Email me if you want to get rid of the P-III 700. There is the disadvantage of overclocking the 700 is that you need better RAM and cooling. But the advantage is that the P-III will probably overclock higher, maybe anyway, with enough mods and tweaks. What are you using for a video card? I bet with a better card, you'd get much better benchmark scores with either that Celly or the P-III.
