p3 450 @518 carnt get it any higher,legend 5/133e motherboard,fsb is at 115 mhz at the moment but i carnt get it any higher,board will run at 66 to 133 mhz, 128 meg 100mhz ram ,temps are all very low,what can i get this chip to any help would be great

check the CPU database and see what other guys are running at. Theres many factors that can hold you back and we will need to know what is happening exactly when you go too high but for now I would say your ram is holding you back as your fsb is 115 and your ram is only 100 which means youve maxed out your ram also are there settings in BIOS to clock down your ram? and what other settings do you have ? I think getting pc133 ram would be a good start but we will need more info before we can help much
the p3 450 can max out any where up to 600mhz or so sometimes higher. A lot of things may be holding you at the speed you are at now. The chip may just be maxed out, in which case better cooling and/or some extra voltage may help, if your board doesn't support voltage changing then you will need to cover some of the pins, I'll find out which. Secondly could be your ram, it may not be able to go over 115mhz, in which case some pc133 would help, crucial sell the best quality pc133 for the best price so I recomend going them (I have some pc100 cas 2 crucial that turns out to be 7.5ns (133mhz) ram and runs at 133mhz cas2 and even 150mhz cas 3, not bad for pc100), a third thing that may be holding you back is the agp bus, this runs at 2/3 the fsb, so 115mhz has a 76mhz agp bus, some cards can have problems aproaching an 80mhz agp bus, anything from about the tnt2 onwards should be ok, especially nvidia video cards, the last thing I can think of is your pci devices, on a 115mhz you are at a 38mhz pci bus which is getting close to the speed most devices start being funny over. It could be a pci sound card, modem, network card or even your harddrive which can be funny with high pci bus speeds, if you can get to a 133mhz fsb this will put all your bus speeds in spec but is running the cpu at 600mhz which it may not handle with out extra voltage and better cooling.

One thing I would suggest is covering pin a14 with nail varnish or something, this pin determines whether a 133mhz fsb is selected or not, use something you can remove if it goes wrong though.
To get higher voltages you would need to cover some of the Vid pins
you would need to cover these pins for these voltages
For 2.2v you would need to cover pins a119, a121, b119 and b120
for 2.4v you would need to cover pins a121, b119 and b120
This is only if your chip is a 2v chip, to find out what voltage your chip runs on go into the bios and look under system monitor and see what the vccvid(cpu) voltage is if it is 2v then the settings I listed above are correct, if it is 1.8v then let me know and I will work out what is needed for that chip.
You should make sure what ever you use to do this is reversable though and always check in the bios that it has worked.
the voltage is 1.97 but somtimes it jumps to 1.99 what do you suggest to use for covering the pins tape or somthing?
I have never tryed tape as I never managed to get it to stick, I have tryed nail varnish as long as it is an enamel nased varnish, if you can get some tape that will stick and stay there when you insert then try that, just be careful of temps, some thermal compund instead of what intel uses may be a good idea.
so with the voltage not been quite 2v (ie 1.97) am i ok to use them setting you gave or not
yeah the settings are right for you as it is quite common to be 0.02-0.03v above or below the set voltage, just make sure you do something easily reversable as I don't want to ruining your chip
I found this slot1voltage (http://www.3dhardware.net/articles/slot1voltage/) it is written for the klamoth and dechutes p2 but the dechutes p2 has the same voltage as the p3 you have and it lists the various pins and configurations for differant voltages, and has good instructions for insulating the pins and even conecting them.
