View Full Version : Won't Overclock well
I have a vp6 with dual 700's I cant passed 120 fsb I basically get around 846 I could get up to 123 but unstable 124 wont even boot with 1.9 voltage. These chips were packaged on 4/1/01 NEW cCO chips matched too. I burned then in for about 24 hours is the problem because it has stock hsf. I have no fans in my system because its new. I know nothing could be holding me back I have soundblaster 5.1 platinum, ati radeon and a pc 133 512 stick ram. All i want is 1 gig each cpu then im happy
Question for TIM: What did you use to get your vp6's to reach 1 gig
It is rare to see a 700 cCO that won't do 933mhz especially with extra voltage. I would recomend that you replace the coolers, a good alpha or globalwin cooler will help a lot, and some artic silver too. also a couple of case fans, even if they are only quiet 30cfm 80mm case fans will do wonders for your temps. try each cpu individually at first.

have you tried to just set the bus for 133 or are you working your way up. if your working your way up, the hell with that set the fsb to 133. you may have cards that don't like the out of spec bus speed and make sure your agp is set up properly for the divisor.

Or hell with it and increase your FSB to 150mhz. and Boom~~~~~~~~~~ nahh,.. lol Dont worry you will not kill your CPU. Try it.. who knows it might work on ya!
Ditto, the out of spec bus speed will cause issues, especially with network and vid cards... definitely try the 133mhz bus first. I overclocked a single 700 to 933 with no problem (well, some but nothing 16 hours of burn-in didn't solve). The dual proc may be an issue with heat; you will need 3 case fans. See this site (http://www.tomshardware.com) for some good case suggestions/designs. Air flow is key, tie up your cables (to allow better flow).
