I have a nice 2mbit cable connection that has worked well for the longest and now for the past couple weeks it seems that after it is used for a little while for things like downloading it loses connection. I keep trying to get the mod for bf1942 called desert combat which is 500+ megs and my cable usually goes out before I finish. I have to go and reset the modem then it works. Could the modem be going out or could there be some downloading/uploading limit i'm hitting?

I doubt you're hitting a limit in your download capacity... Are you certain that the download isn't crapping out at the server end of the transfer? The desert combat patch is huge, and those servers can get pretty busy.

I've gotten it but it wasn't the server. There was also a 329mb Desertcombat movie I couldn't get. My overnet stops dling sometimes and also my seti@home has finished units when I wake up that it cannot send it until i reset the modem.

If resetting the cable modem seems to fix it, I'd bet that it is bad.

Or, call your ISP and ask their advice. If you're leasing the modem, you're in good shape since they can replace it for free. If you own the modem, ask them anyway and maybe they can tell you that it is their fault....

Who knows.

I bet its a bad modem.
