Hey guys, putting my rig together tonight. Being that Im an Nvidia Fan turned ATI, I will be putting in my Radeon 9800pro. But the drivers are confusing. What are the best drivers for gaming. I know that there are Omega's and Cat's. I would appreciate any help. Also what is VPU? and what are people talking about turning off in the BIOS? And one last thing. Should Vsync be on or off? Thanks a bunch!

the drivers don't make enough of a real-world difference for you to serach for the "holy grail" of drivers, it's like 1-2 fps tops. Cat 4.2s will work fine. Turn VPU off because it can cause odd behavior with the computer, but leave it on first to see if yours personally messes with anything. Leave the Vsync set to application default or whatever.

The "VPU" is the new word for "GPU"
The "V" now stands for "Visual" as opposed to "G" for "Graphics"
Anyway, in your ATI control panel, there's a TAB named "VPU Recover"
Click the "VPU Recover" TAB, and uncheck the box that is labelled "Enable VPU Recover"
ATI drivers have TON's of options, enjoy:)
VPU Recover is a nifty idea ATI started including with their drivers from 3.8(?) and on. Basically, it is supposed to detect when your video card stops responding to the driver, and then reset it. This theoretically will save you from having to reset your whole computer if your video card freezes. I've had it do it to me once, and it was pretty cool :)
However, some people have problems with it apparently. I'd leave it on myself to make sure it dosen't cause any problems, since it is a cool thing to have. If leaving it on causes problems, disable it.
