Just got myt CPU today A64 3200+
Abit KV8 MAX3 will come tomorrow.
I've built one 64 machine beforebut it wasn't for me.

Youd sould have waited to get the 64bit CPU with the new 64bits coming soon they have a new socket if im not mestakin

yea, 939 or somthing
this was an In-kind payment for building PCs for someone.
I'll really only be out the MoBo, because If I waited and got a 939, then upgraded to a newer 939 later, I'd still have to buy the CPU. No need to wait.
hope you enjoy yours. mines fast and stable. :)

thanks guys/gals, OOps I forgot to mention that I'll be running 512 Megs of PC2100 for a while, hope thats not too much of a bottle neck.

anyways.. it will definately put a big dent in your performance but get some fast ram as soon as possible. it will make a big difference :D

i didnt know you could do that! lol.
so itd be possible for me to buy a new barton and still run my crappy ram with it until i can afford new ram? would i just have to run it at a divider until i got it working?

I know you can run the divider in ths bios....but will it boot like this?

you can set the RAM speed in the Bios. the 64 doesn't have a set FSB either
