ok i got my old HS/F off of my cpu ready to apply some thermal grease but there is some white intel **** on it.

how would i safe remove the compound and add my own thx

Scrape off what you can with a razor blade.
The use isopropyl alchohol on a tissue to remove whats left.
Finger nail polish remover will also work.

Here is what I did=>

I took a paper towel, wrapped it around my finger, and kind of took that stuff off with my nail, than once all of that stuff was gone (it wasn't perfectly clean, had a tiny bit of it left), I wiped it with some alcohol.

It worked for me :)
