I have been trying to OC a 733EB on a soyo 7is2 mb with 256meg of ram (pc100), however, it won't allow me to change the multiplier in the bios. WTF? Actually I take that back, I can change the multiplier but it does'nt apply it, it sets it back to 5.5 (I guess default), everytime I boot up, the only way it seems I can OC is to change the FSB but I didnt want to set that to high, I have it at 145 right now and its running fine and ofcourse the multiplier is at 5.5 which makes the cpu run at 800, but I wanted to increase the muliplier to increase the cpu, what can I do?
Or is the multiplier LOCKED on the cpu? I have heard stories that it is but I dont know.
Please help! Thanks!

Intel locks there multiplyers so you can only change the FSB on the chip...kinda sucks....so what you have heard is true...

Intel locked the multiplier, no matter what you do it will always set to the 5.5, only the FSB is the only way, plus yours is a EB chip, not much room for o/c

Intel locks it's multiplyers and there is no known way to change them.
Unfortunately the EB chips are the hardest to overclock due to them being on a 133mhz fsb to start with, and with such a low multiplyer it would be hard to get the full speed out of the cpu due to other components not liking the high fsb. I would recomend auctioning it and trying to get hold of a p3 700E which you should get to 933mhz and maybe over 1ghz

if he is runing PC 100 ram, that's pretty good that he's running at 145FSB already :)
that's unless it's a mistype

No its not a misttype, however the motherboard I have allows you to select the speed of your ram without the fsb effecting it...Pretty strange I know, first time I seen a motherboard like that. Kinda nice actually because I did a test and put 256 meg of PC-133 in and I was'nt even able to boot up windows without getting a error, so I took it back out and put my PC-100 back in and its stable as can be....
