I have an ASUS P3V4X with PIII 1ghz cpu which I could only overclocked up to 1.123GHZ (FSB=112). When I crank up the FSB and once I exit the bios settings, my monitor would blank out and would not bootup anymore. I tried adjusting the Vcore and I am still not successful. Any ideas on how to rectify this? Perhaps 1.123GHZ is the highest I could go with this system. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

ASUS P3V4x
PIII 1GHZ Slot 1 100FSB
256 PC133 RAM
ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder
Soundblaster Live 5.1
IBM Deskstar 30GB Hard Drive
Creative Labs Ovation DVD
Yamaha CD-Writer

that board has 8 multiplyers and a bus of up to 150...now if your saying 112FSB would get you to 1.12 that means that you processor has a bus of 100 and a multiplyer of 10, board has 8....are you sure the chip isnt 8x133 that would give you 1064. and in theroy it would work, never tryed it though...but now that i look at the documentation on the board it dosent list all the way to 8 on the 133 bus...very VERY interested in this..what are the specs written on the chip?

Mine says 166FSB/41.50PCI. Dunno bout Multiplier
Do I have a Special Edition?

Bout your question PinoyOC try to up the Vcore first load windows restart and then up the FSB.

The early versions of the P3V4X have many more FSB settings than the newer ones. Unfortunatly I have one of the newer ones. If you have tried raising your vcore and it won't boot I would guess you have reached your chips max. P3 tend to top out just a little bit past a gig. I have discovered on mine if I set ithe vcore at anything over 1.80 it will not boot from a cold start at any bus speed. I have been told that there is a bug in the board causing this problem. The only solution I know of is to boot into windows at a lower bus speed and vcore and then restart and reset bus speed and vcore to what you want. But you have to do this every time you shut you machine off at least I do.

THANK YOU,....finally someone has explained why i keep comming up with different numbers on my board, well i have a newer one....i too have trouble booting cold sometimes but only when the CPU has been removed first..im running PIII700@1053@1.85v....now PinoyOC knowing that there are 2 versions of this board which one do you have? cause the NEWER ones (atleast mine)have 8 muliplyiers and i dont see how a 1Ghz with 100FSB would run on that

His 1gig P3 should run just fine on the newer version. I beleive there are two versions of the P3 1gig. One has a multiplier of 10 with a FSB of 100 giving it one gig. The other has a multiplier of 7.5 and a FSB of 133 giving it 1 gig also. Either one should run on the P3V4X both older and newer versions as long as the bios are updated for the higher multiplier
